0 Euro Souvenir National Nature Reservation of Manínska Gorge
Many years ago, Manínsky brook divided the mountain of Manínske bardlo into two parts - Veľký and Malý Manín (Big and Small Manín), which today dominate our region from afar, but mainly created a narrow gorge. Visitors are thus offered a wonderful natural spectacle with steep rock walls and wild cliffs, which are also popular with climbers. Botanists here, in turn, count more than 530 species of mostly protected plants, among which many rare animals also have a home. The less than a kilometre long Manín gorge is the narrowest gorge in Slovakia with a built-up road - in one place its width does not even exceed 4 meters, yet it is passable not only on foot, but even by bus. The Manínska Strait was declared a National Nature Reserve under the name Manínska úžina in 1967. Its extraordinary beauty was admired by the first visitors as early as the 19th century, and today it attracts the attention not only of many nature lovers from home and abroad, but also of filmmakers. Several films were shot here, among the most famous are Pacho, the bandit from the village of Hybe; Jánošík – true history or If I Had a Rifle.
