The monument to the Slovak National Uprising is located in the village of Kunerad, approximately 2 km outside the village, in the castle park under the Kunerad Castle. The monument was built in 1965, the ceremonial unveiling of the monument took place on Sunday, November 6, 1966.
This cultural monument was created as a commemoration of the events of the Slovak National Uprising in Rajecká Valley. The author of the monument is Ing. arch. Martin Kusý, the sculpture was created by a native of Rajec, Rudolf Pribiš, the author of the text is Milan Lajčiak. Since 1981, the SNP Monument in Kunerad has been included among the national cultural monuments in Slovakia. The monument is also one of the largest SNP monuments in Slovakia. In 2019, the monument underwent reconstruction, in which the owners of the Kunerad castle primarily participated in cooperation with the local civil association AKURAD. The reconstruction was supervised by the son of Ing. arch. M. Kusý Ing. arch. Martin Kusý, who is behind important buildings in Slovakia such as the new building of the Slovak National Theatre or the building of the National Bank of Slovakia.
