HISTORICAL 1ST ZEMPLÍN MEDAL FROM THE 2022 OLYMPICS

Pavol Regenda was born in Michalovce, where he grew up and started his sports career. He started skating and playing sports from an early age. He got on skates for the first time when he was less than 2 years old.
In the years 2009-2014, he attended elementary school with sports classes focused on hockey in Michalovce at the elementary school at Školská 2 in Michalovce. Physical and sports education was taught by PaedDr. Radmila Hajdúková, PaedDr. Jozef Uchal. The school enabled him to develop his hockey talent by skipping a year of school and having an individual study plan. He was gifted in all-round movement and represented the school in various sports not only in the city, district, region, but also in all-Slovak competitions. He was an excellent athlete, played badminton, floorball, football and basketball.

His ice hockey career:
- 2002 - season 2013/2014 Michalovce youth team
- season 2014/2015 youth team Spišská Nová Ves, end of the season in Michalovce
- season 2015/2016, the first 7 matches for the junior team, Michalovce, participation in the "SR 18 national team project". At the end of the season, he contributed to a successful promotion of A team to the extra league"
- season 2016/2017 again SR 18" national team at the end of the season playoff for teenagers and juniors in Trenčín, then World ice hockey championship under 18 in Poprad
- season 2017/2018 junior Linkoping HC J 20 - Pavol Regenda got a taste of ice hockey in Sweden, playing for junior Linköping. The Michalovce ice hockey prodigy has had his first season abroad. In the country of the three crowns, he collected 10 Canadian points for 7 goals and 3 assists in 45 games of the highest junior competition. The talented striker, who played at the domestic under-18 World championship a year ago, returned home from Scandinavia.

- Year 2022 - participation in the Olympic Games in Beijing, where Slovak hockey players won bronze medals. Pavol Regenda won the first ever Olympic medal for Slovakia and Zemplín at the Olympic Games, where great joy erupted among the Regendas and also among the Michalovce fans who cheered for him, Paľo also scored a goal, for which we all congratulate him. He was also a participant in this year's World championship in ice hockey in Finland, where he was a successful and valid member of the team. After the Finland-Slovakia match, he was declared the best player and was the best scorer of the Slovak team.

From the beginning of the new season, he was supposed to be a player for Mladá Boleslav, but another successful performance at the World championship in the most valuable national jersey earned him a contract in the NHL. He signed a contract with the Anaheim Ducks, so the native of Michalovice is moving to sunny California. We wish him the best of luck and success in his hockey career in the NHL.
