Manor house in St. Anton

sv-anton

The baroque-classical mansion built in 1750 was the seat of the Koháry and Coburg noble families. It is known for its calendar symbolism - originally it had 4 entrances, 7 arcades, 12 chimneys, 52 rooms and 365 windows.
Richly furnished salons with original furniture reflect the way of life, tastes and hobbies of these two families. The museum specializes in the history and present of hunting.

The museum, which is currently located in the manor house, publishes a Euro Souvenir on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the museum's foundation.
The sale will begin on May 18, 2022, on International Museum Day
We will celebrate the day of all museum workers with a sale on the premises of the museum from 9:00 a.m. The price will be 3 euros.
The sale will start with numbers from 101 to 1000 (with a maximum purchase of two pieces per purchase), and subsequently from 1401 it will be possible to purchase a maximum of 10 pieces per purchase.

Historical facts
The manor built on the site of a smaller castle was completed in its present form by Andrej Koháry - a Hontian robe. The building was designed by Viennese architect Johann Enzenhofer, the beautiful frescoes in the chapel and on the staircase are the work of Anton Schmidt - an Austrian painter working in Banská Štiavnica. For the Koháry family, the manor house was a family residence, the Coburg family used it as a country residence, especially in the summer and during hunting.
The last user of the mansion was the former Bulgarian Tsar Ferdinand Coburg.
The entire area was declared a National Cultural Monument in 1985.
