Liptovské Museum - Expositions, exhibitions and events in the headquarters building of the Liptovské Museum in Ružomberok offer visitors a unique space for getting to know nature and the past, for informal education, for a cultural experience and for spending free time. Permanent exhibitions present visitors with a comprehensive picture of Liptov nature, as well as the history of the entire region. Several exhibitions are held every year in the large exhibition hall. It also includes several national and international exhibitions of artistic photography, traditionally associated with the creative authorial background of Ružomberok and the institution of the Liptovské Museum. Lectures for the public are also regularly held in the residential building, where museum curators present interesting collection items.
Liptovské Museum (founders) - The sibling duo of brothers Artúr and Július Kürti have made a significant mark in the history of Slovakia, but especially Liptov, museology. The Kürti family lived in the former Madočániovská manor, where the family ran a pub. In its attic and annex were the premises of the first private museum in Ružomberok. The brothers have been collecting since childhood, which has grown into a lifelong passion. Arthur organized and directed the work in the museum, Július implemented his brother's directives and devoted himself to minor work. Arthur was born in Ružomberok and studied at the local gymnasiums, later at the medical faculties of the universities in Budapest and Vienna. After completing his studies, he returned home, where he settled down and continued to work as a city and general practitioner. After his high school studies, Július decided to study law at the University of Budapest, but due to family reasons he did not finish his studies and worked in the family store in Ružomberok. At the beginning of the 20th century, the brothers returned to the idea of founding a museum and continued collecting. This effort finally resulted in the foundation of the Liptov museum society in 1912.
